Fullerton, Orange County
Cal State Fullerton was founded in 1957 among the citrus groves on the east side of town and has grown into one of the largest campuses in the California State University system. Its mascot, an elephant named Tuffy the Titan, dates to a student-run elephant race held on campus in 1962. A 26-acre arboretum on the north side of the campus is open to the public.
